  • You might have heard of B-stance deadlifts but have you heard of or tried B-stance squats?

In my current training program by @bootybybret I have B-stance squats. I'm familiar with the B-stance deadlifts; which has been a key component of my training when I wanted to get my back stronger and to build up to regular deadlifts(with which I'm very comfortable with now).

There are two categories of single leg exercises: supported and unsupported.
Split squats and their variations are single-leg supported exercises. Pistol squats, skater squats, and single-leg RDL’s are single-leg unsupported exercises.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bret introduced a single leg squat called the B-Stance Squat that has a good transfer over to a regular squat. The advantage to this exercise is that the non-weighted foot remains on the floor for support, while most of the weight is still on the stance leg.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most athletic movements found in sports and everyday life require weight transfer to one leg: walking, running, and lunging for example. I think this exercise can really compliment all the running I'm doing at the moment.
‍ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would say start by introducing single leg supported exercises to your training. Depending on your goals; fitness level make sure to add a single leg squat variation, a single leg hip-hinge variation, and a single leg bridge variation as you get more comfortable with the movement. Examples of this would be Bulgarian split squats; B - stance barbell deadlifts(see slide 2) and Single leg floor glute Bridges.
