  • What do you #daretodream?
Of a world free of gender stereotypes?
Of a world where you're free to be you?
Perhaps it's more about sustainability and our impact on the world.
Whatever it may be, on 22 September you can add your voice to the art of gentle protest with @craftivists at the @phmmcr in #Manchester, that I wrote about in today's blog post. I've got my cloud in advance of the event that I'll be volunteering at, so that I can spend some time thinking about what I want to change and how I can work towards it.
Watch this space for the result! What do you #daretodream? Of a world free of gender stereotypes? Of a world where you're free to be you? THE AMAZON RAINFOREST IS ON FIRE. •
•
The Amazon Rainforest has been on fire for weeks, and is increasingly destroying trees, killing wildlife, and unconscionably contributing to climate change. NASA-released satellite images show the thick smoke can be seen from space - 8,668 fires have been detected in Amazonas, releasing 200 metric tons of greenhouse gas. •
•
At 4pm, the city of Sao Paulo was completely covered in darkness from the smoke being released in the Amazon - covering the sun and sky above it. Amidst the disastrous impacts of the forest fires, deforestation is continuously increasing under far-right president Jair Bolsonaro's leadership. The humidity of the Amazon has protected it against the fires in the past, but increasing deforestation and drought can completely alter the rainforest permanently.
•
•
As a matter of fact, Brazil's National Institute for Space Research predicts that rainfall in the Amazon will be 40 - 50% below normal in the coming months. •

No tengo palabras suficientes para expresar lo que siento en estos momentos, por nuestro planeta, y por los más llamados “seres humanos”. #repost @thedefiantmovement ・・・ THE AMAZON RAINFOREST IS ON FIRE. • • The Amazon Rainforest has been on fire for weeks, and is increasingly destroying trees, killing wildlife, and unconscionably contributing to climate change. • What is your sphere of influence? How are you supporting positive change? I’m inspired by Polly @polly.barks & Sarah @popcorn.ceiling.life latest posts that complement each other: harness anger to do something & our individual actions count for something while we wait for big systemic changes.

My sphere of influence is my work & our clients, my immediate family and my (few) friends. Since I switched to a menstrual cup & talk about it non-stop at least 5 women I personally know have switched over. That’s 5x at least 20-25 years of disposable menstrual products avoided. My parents are now taking reusable bags and save food scraps for me to compost.

At my new workplace, I made a firm stance against single use plastic for team lunches. Now we use caterers who provide in reusable serving dishes. Today’s team meeting, we discussed getting uniform shirts (for field work). A fast fashion brand was recommended & I interjected that we can’t be consulting on labour issues if we don’t walk the talk. We’re now looking into finding local seamstresses or tailors. I haven’t brought up our travel yet (...I’m already being the annoying greenie 😂).
And honestly I feel there is more I can do & plan to.
My point is: we can, within our access & privilege, initiate some level of positive change in our sphere of influence. From a conversation on racism with a friend to running a workshop to starting a community garden to giving a community talk to writing & petitioning local government to activism campaigning, we can do something.
If many of us do what we can and us with relative privilege do more; we can compound big change.

So tell me, let’s share what we’re doing in our sphere of influence? Let’s inspire each other. What is your sphere of influence? How are you supporting positive change?
