Walk through the cedar forests and Roman temples of Lebanon; enjoy wine tasting in the Beqaa Valley; exploring ancient monasteries in the Qadisha Valley, experiencing the incredible natural wonders of the Jeita Grotto, discovering Beirut, Byblos, Tripoli, and of course the delightful food and hospitality for which the country is best known:
Saturday 2nd – Sunday 10th November 2019 (9-days)
Saturday 18th – Sunday 26 April 2020 (9-days)
In a country where French, Arabic and English can be heard in a single sentence and a multitude of faiths reside, history emanates from every stone: The costal village of Byblos (جبيل ‘Jbeil’ in Arabic) is the oldest continuously-inhabited town in the world; the Roman temples at Baalbek are some of the grandest ever built; Lebanon is mentioned 71 times in the Bible; with rule having passed through the hands of Arab Caliphates, Crusaders, Mamluks, Ottomans and more.
Lebanon really does have it all – but perhaps nothing surpasses the openness, charm, glamour and friendliness of its people. Experience this enchanting destination with like-minded fellow travellers, with the assurance that you will find a unique and varied culture quite unlike any you have seen before.

Possibly one of my best memories of riding Eastern Europe. Always a killer throwback image and caption. (Adapted excerpt from my ever-in-the-works motorcycle stories book)
“Looking back at the days weaving the roads of Hungary, riding towards a minatory thunderstorm that swallowed the bike into its guts.
Trapped in an area of the Hungarian countryside that has been starved of civilization. The storm turned everything black, and hurled a torrential rain that warped our visibility into multiple images. Only the refracted lights of the Africa Twins over the road, gave us an idea of where the path turned ahead. The glimmering road bursted minuscule flashes with each drop that hit the ground. And among those glints were the unfortunate eyes of crossing frogs, whose final destiny was written on black rubber.
Fred and I found shelter under the covered driveway of a country house. An elder couple was outside, sitting at a small table watching the rain. The tone of their conversation seemed joyful, but the Hungarian words melted with the sounds of thunder. I approached them with the palm of my hands together against my face, asking the septuagenarians, in my best mime gestures, for permission to sleep on the floor of their front porch. They consented with a smile, and the old woman went inside and brought us a bottle of sparkling water. The simple gesture was a lesson of inherent human kindness, a language that transcends across the globe, one that understands the basic needs of our human condition. I opened up a bag of gummy bears and reflected on that simple equation of human bonding... shelter, water, food, love.
The night faded in a spectacle of lightning bolts drawing erratic lines on the ebony skies of Eastern Europe. I then drew a green gummy bear off the Haribo bag... how lucky!”

When we spotted the pride lazing on the hill there was no lion king in sight. We heard him before we saw him, a low growl as he rose from his hidden sleeping spot in the grass only to walk across the track and resume his sleeping position on the other side. He was such a majestic creature and didn’t have a care in the world 🦁
