  • This is a photo of a piece I made a while back titled Collimation #1. I was happy to see that @faceregallery posted this image over the weekend coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the #Apollo11 mission to the moon. What I love about this image (I didn’t take it) is that the correct orientation of the piece is askew in combination with being placed on a black background. It almost looks like a satellite floating in space! The piece was inspired by the James Webb Space Telescope @nasawebb (an imaging scope to replace the venerable Hubble Space Telescope) due to launch in 2021. #jwstart

Kirk Lang is a Seattle-based designer, #jeweler, metalsmith, sculptor, and amateur astronomer. “The wearable objects I create directly reflect my interest in #astronomy and space exploration. The shapes, textures, materials and color palette found in the #celestial environment are all elements that find their way into my work. Specific materials such as #titanium, niobium and #meteorite are chosen, as they are often used to construct components to explore space or naturally exist in space itself.” #FacereJewelryArt #arttowear #spaceart @kirk_lang This is a photo of a piece I made a while back titled Collimation #1.
