💡Some Ways We Can Begin To Examine + Change Our Relationship With Procrastination:
▫️[Practical]
✏️Scheduling in ‘anxiety time’ to the task; time were we give ourselves permission to feel anxious, unsure, flounder some + muddle together a rough plan
✏️Setting realistic goals + standards. Emphasis on the realistic
✏️Removing distractions + removing ourselves from distractions
▫️[Inner Work]
🔎Offering self-compassion instead of self-punishment. How would we speak to a friend experiencing anxiety? ‘Helping’ from a place of anger + resentment, isn’t helping- this applies to helping ourselves as well
🔎Sitting with our fear of failure
🔎Exploring the tie between our productivity + our self worth
🔎Examining whether we do work best under pressure. Is this all we know because of our anxiety? Or do we genuinely like to work in this way?
🔎If we felt we were good enough, how would that version of us approach the situation?
🔎Bring attention to the stories we’re telling ourselves about the completion or incompletion of the task. What ‘type’ of person does that makes us. Acknowledge the critic
🔎If we were to really sink into it, what beliefs lie at our core, underneath all the anxiety + loud inner voices? Take some time with this. If it’s proving difficult, journal around this concept
