Thank you @penguinindia for sending this book.
#prgifted in exchange for unbiased review. .

"Pure Adrenaline Rush"- that's what summaries the book. That's what Jack Reacher series is all about.
Based on an unnamed American town that is divided between two warring mafia groups of Ukraine and Albania. The dark dark business of the underworld, their hierarchy, and influence in the lives of common people have been picturized with the minutest detail. It starts with the usual Jack Reacher style where he meets an old couple, deep neck with debt, and finally Jack becoming the messiah.
Lets put this very straight forward. It's action-packed, with guns and gores, focused more on brutality rather than characterization. The author didn't fail to give snippets of the lives of the gangster and his men. It's very visually strong like OG Hollywood action movies. At parts, it's so detailed I can almost visualize all the streets and tunnels and buildings. In the end, it was very entertaining and kept me glued on. .
.
QOTD- Have you planned your 2020 readings??

  • Thank you to @stephdoesbookclub for this amazing giveaway prize!! Arrived today safe and sound and I’m so excited to dive into it! 🤗
Synopsis👇

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug-dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. In fact, by age twenty, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most prestigious universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her?

Still searching for answers, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. Their eight windowless “tombs” are the well-known haunts of the rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street’s biggest players. But their occult activities are more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive. They tamper with forbidden magic. They raise the dead. And, sometimes, they prey on the living. Thank you to @stephdoesbookclub for this amazing giveaway prize!! #preorder https://books2read.com/u/mdG2d5

Luther is the most beautiful of my captors. Still I hate him more than the others. I hate him so much that the darkness inside me comes alive.

When I started university and moved out of my foster parents’ home, I hoped everything would change. That the nightmares, the visions, the voices would stop, but they got worse.

Then three of the most dangerously stunning fae crashed into my life.
Intoxicating eyes.
Devilish lips.
Dangerous intentions.

They insist I belong with them in the Wandering Realm. A place where love is lost, where war is brewing between two realms, and where the once powerful royals are being hunted down and slaughtered.

I’m their savior they say, but there are no saviors amid monsters. These princes who are tasked to keep me safe are keeping secrets of their own. Secrets that will kill me.

So, how am I meant to rid the realm of evil when I feel the dark spreading through my veins?

Scorching hot first book in the brand new ‘WINTER'S THORN’ Trilogy.

  • I just finished Chanel Miller's Know My Name. I intend to write a complete review on it (not even sure how I would do that!), and hope to share with it you soon. I will just write my first thoughts here. As someone who had a #MeToo experience, I felt I need to read this book. I was hesitant at first because I was scared it would trigger me and I would break down. Some parts were difficult for me to read, and wet tissues were proof of that. Lucky I had Candy to cuddle with when I needed to pause! ⠀
⠀
@chanelmillerknowmyname has eloquently written about what she went through that night and all the sleepless nights that followed. By writing her story, she has taken back the reins of her life, one that was stolen from her that night. She now controls her own self; not by Brock, his lawyers or the judge, or all those people that decided to judge HER character and shame her instead of the man who was tackled to the ground when seen raping an unconscious woman. ⠀
⠀
It turns out that despite the tears, I didn't break down. The book left me feeling hopeful for myself, and all the people who had similar experiences, to take back the reins and heal. I now look forward to the healing journey in front of me. I will hold the hands of the child in that dark tunnel and lead her out to the daylight 🖤 I just finished Chanel Miller's Know My Name. • I am going to start this book review simply by IMPLORING everyone to read If You Want To Make God Laugh by @biancamarais_author As someone who has genuinely enjoyed almost everything I’ve read this year, I can confidently say that this book is hands down my favorite read of 2019 and will likely end at 1 or 2 for me for the year depending on how my last few books of the year go. I haven’t been so emotionally attached to a story in forever and this novel is so powerful. I could gush about this book forever and I don’t want to give any of it away, but I truly think this should be required reading. Living in the #metoo era has made us all aware of how challenging it can be to be a woman in today’s society...so imagine living 2.5 decades ago in freshly post #apartheid South Africa. The story is a fresh perspective on the ties that bind women, a reminder that we’re stronger by building each other up instead of tearing each other down. Thanks #notyomamasbookclub for making me pick this one up! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #fivestarread #mustread #bookstagram #bookworm #bibliophile #idratherbereading #bookreview #bookrecommendation I am going to start this book review simply by IMPLORING everyone to read If You Want To Make God Laugh by @biancamarais_author As someone who has genuinely enjoyed almost everything I’ve read this year, I can confidently say that this book is hands down my favorite read of 2019 and will likely end at 1 or 2 for me for the year depending on how my last few books of the year go. “Overall, it is an accomplished read … This well-established American writer of novels and scriptwriter for TV has a sharp eye for detail in a plot which I have to say wouldn’t normally attract me. … The author writes convincingly and without sentimentality. … The scene in IKEA is hilarious! … Well written with good characters and insight, I particularly the intimacy and caring nature of Larry in two very contrasting scenarios which evolve as the plot develops. … Book clubs will find lots to talk about.” More here: bit.ly/37mPefh

Synopsis: There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER... Life will never be the same. #Hessa

Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother who’s intent on keeping her that way.

But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin. With his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, and tattoos, Hardin is cute and different from what she’s used to.

But he’s also rude—to the point of cruelty, even. For all his attitude, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does—until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites within her a passion she’s never known before.

He'll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her and disappear again and again. Despite the reckless way he treats her, Tessa is compelled to dig deeper and find the real Hardin beneath all his lies. He pushes her away again and again, yet every time she pushes back, he only pulls her in deeper.

Tessa already has the perfect boyfriend. So why is she trying so hard to overcome her own hurt pride and Hardin's prejudice about nice girls like her?

Unless...could this be love?

If there was ever a cover to grab your attention, this is it. PLASTIC by @frankhstrausser not only looks intriguing, the synopsis has that “must read” quality. It totally reminds me of the show Nip/Tuck which I was completely addicted to once upon a time. Have you read this book? Or did you watch the show Nip/Tuck? 🔥🔥

- #TheBetterLiar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 .

Alternatively Titled: Wow. Wow. Wow. What a perfectly crafted, slow burning thriller. Everything about this debut will exceed your expectation of a thriller: the pace at which it unravels, the multiple unreliable narrators (that don’t rely on alcoholism to make them unreliable...aka every thriller on the market), the beautifully crafted, detailed narratives.... I struggled at first to stick with this one because it was hard to tell where it was going...half way through I realized that’s what makes it so great.
Trust the @Goodreads reviewers - go into this one blind and stick with it, you’ll be rewarded with what I’m sure will be one of the best thrillers of 2020. “I felt glass-faced, transparent; it was only because nobody looked at me that no one had seen through me yet.” - #thebetterliar ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 . . . . . .
