"I have worked with a lot of people that have struggled to get in shape because the thought of going to the gym and not knowing what to do or where to start can be so frightening.⁣⁣⁣

I can totally understand that frightening feeling of entering ‘the weights area’ and thinking of being judged or laughed at..but trust me, I have been there too and I am going to give you some tips to help you to overcome your fears.⁣⁣⁣

🔸Start small: If you’d really rather ‘get started’ with a little more privacy, you could always do some workouts at home (or go running outside) to get into the swing of things before braving a commercial gym.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
🔸Pick the right time: If you’re new to the gym and don’t have a partner in crime, it can be intimidating to go during the peak hours. If you have the flexibility, consider going to workout during off-hours: usually early morning, midday or late at night.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
🔸Provide Structure: Having a workout plan provides you with structure so that you aren’t wondering what to do next or just reverting back to the ol’ cardio equipment. Having a specific plan will make it much easier to keep going.⁣⁣⁣

🔸Find a workout buddy: When you are working out with a friend/partner you will feel more relaxed and motivated. If don’t have a gym buddy, that’s cool. Maybe you can meet one at the gym!⁣⁣⁣

🔸Get a Personal Trainer: Someone who’s going to hold your ass accountable for missing gym time or skipping workouts. Do all the planning for you and even better, they’ll show you exactly what to do and how to do it safely and with perfect form.⁣⁣⁣

🔸Group training: Get involved in a class or group training you will meet new people like yourself and you can expect a friendly environment where most people are trying out new exercises.⁣⁣⁣
