  • Let’s talk about #britbrit , ya’ll! I love reading reviews of her #fragrances and finding other women like myself- “ I’m in my 30s/40s/50s and I typically wear Cristalle, Eau de Soir, Aromatics Elixir, vintage Diorissimo, or Quelques Fleur, but I LOVE ‘Curious’ !!!!” .

I’ve only smelled and worn a handful of Britney Spears’ *bazillion* releases, but I think they’ve been so hugely successful because they are NOT aspirational or pretentious in any way.

They they strike the same “instant delight” gasp as a pink box of donuts, while
tapping into early experiences of femininity that pre-date our shame in liking cheap scented candles and drugstore body sprays. They are well-made and un-cynical *within their own parameters* .

With once-great designer houses like Dior and YSL forced by circumstance to make cheaper and cheaper variations of hits like Flowerbomb and Coco Mademoiselle in order to stay afloat financially, Spears actually seems joyfully involved in the process of creating juicy, super-girlish “pillar” fragrances like Fantasy, and following them with variants, such as Midnight Fantasy, which rated four stars from The New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr.

The mostly jewel-toned bottles are an ambitious little girl’s idea of “fancy”, with Swarovski crystals, ribbons, and rhinestones, and for $9.99-$24.99 at your local Marshall’s or TJ Maxx, you can be 16 again any time you want! #britneyspears #cheapandcheerful #perfume Let’s talk about #britbrit , ya’ll!
