Living with chronic pain is its own wierd normal.
The pain becomes an entity, a thing all on its own.
Half the time, I accept it for what it is and work with my body.
The other half the time, I spend bargaining like " if you let me get through this show/ performance/ meeting/class/day, I promise I will rest."
It's a constant negotiation.
We were talking about pain in my Body Love class on Wednesday.
Which may seem unusual in burlesque storytelling class but I think makes sense because we bring our whole selves to everything we do, especially something as intimate as movement, sensuality and the body.
One of the things I talked about was , "if you have super pain then you must also have superpowers".
Not to deny or ignore our pain but instead to look at it differently and consider that we are not broken.
Anywho, other things I am thinking about, "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard is one of the best rock songs ever.
I knowwww I know but still, it is.
Dolly Parton is a national treasure.
And I hope that Whitney Houston is having a good day today up there in heaven.
🎨 The first project in my new studio. I spent a lovely peaceful afternoon painting and didn’t realise how long I had been there, it was dark outside when I looked up... I’m so lucky to have this incredible space 💚 #studio#art#painting#creating
