  • karlyletomms.com - It is one of those shush topics. We are not even supposed to talk about it. Yet, without it, none of us would be here, and there is much more to it than procreation. Outside if dolphins and one species of monkey, human beings are the only creatures on earth that do it for pleasure and recreation. Yet, there is so much shame about it. Perhaps that is because it can also be used abusively, and those who have been sexually abused or exploited can become very turned off by it due to the association with hurt and degridation. Second on Maslow's hierarchy of needs only to survival and food, it could be that taboos around sex were created as a way of regulating and controlling it. The #MeToo movement certainly has brought to the forefront a needed discussion about the importance of controlling sexual urges, but in situations of sexual harassment, abuse and rape, it is not so much the sexual urge that needs to be controlled but the narcissistic need for dominance and power. Sex combined with authority and narcissism can be a very dangerous mix, and it is about time that this taboo topic was openly discussed and a definition of sexual rights was created. The taboo about it and the lack of discussion is one of the things that has allowed sexual exploitation to go so long under the radar, under reported and under controlled. It is not shutting up about sex that will fix the problems, it is open dialogue that will fix the problem. In my opinion, your body belongs to you. It is your God given right to determine who is or is not allowed to touch you, where, when, how and how much and no one has the right to take that from you. The flip side of that, however, id that I believe prostitution should be legal. You should also be able to charge for it if you want to. You pay doctors, physical therapists and hair dressers to touch you. Why shouldn't you be allowed to charge someone if they want you to touch them sexually? Your body belongs to you, and no one else, including society. Society, therefore, has no more right to tell you what you can do with it than does a rapist. So, the old concepts and shaming about it have got to go. #karlyletommsquotes karlyletomms.com - It is one of those shush topics. We are not even supposed to talk about it.
