He's hating me right now.
I didn't even want a date night tonight. After working outside all day, this filthy girl wanted a bath and bed. But I also wanted one last ride in the harvester this year. So after an incredibly long day, my husband told me to hop in the truck.
Two minutes earlier, he hadn't laughed at my joke and I was a little annoyed at him and I just didn't want to go.
But I did it anyway.
And everything went wrong. 🤦🏼♀️ The roll-off grain bin stuck to the truck. The corn combine kept sending mixed signals and not connecting properly to the tracking device. We found lounging areas where the seed variety planted in this particular field fell and we couldn't pick the corn. The corn we did pick tangled itself up in the corn head and he kept having to climb out to clear the combine head.
My husband was beside himself. I could feel the annoyance running off him and it was my fault. All because I wanted one last ride in the combine.
At the end of the row, he turned the combine around to continue picking. One glance down in the huge farm ditch and my heart kicked up a beat. "I hate this part. I'm always afraid we're going to land in the ditch," I said, clenching the door rail. "Nothing will happen. It'll be fine," he said. Two seconds later, my feet flew up and I was looking skyward and screaming. The back combine tires had rolled back in the ditch. "Crap," he said. But no sooner did the words roll out of his mouth, and he had it out and picking again. My entire body was shaking and I could barely talk. "Let's just quit and go home," I stuttered.
He just smiled and patted my leg. We kept harvesting. Thankfully, the rest of the evening was uneventful and we hauled a truckload of corn back to the barn. On the way home, he leaned over and asked, "Well, was it everything you dreamed of?" ☺️🤦🏼♀️ Everything I dreamed of? No. Definitely not.
But here's what I got instead of my dream-- (Continued in comments)
(My cute look for work and the Kacey Musgraves concert. Also realized I forgot to share my absolute best overalls look yet from date nite with Care last week so feast your eyes)
