As you might know I struggled a lot with the urges to move around (in my case it was walking around all day)
It was one of the biggest triggers for my relapse cause no matter how much I ate I still lost or maintained my weight. When I started my second attempt at recovery I couldn't stop, walking was one of my habits that where hard to broke. I got dark circles under my eyes because no matter how much I slept, my body was tired and it made sure to let me know. Everything was exhausting and I didn't feel real, my bones were heavy and hard to carry with the little amount of energy I had but I still walked every day.
On one day I couldn't handle all the exhaustion anymore and told @carol about my struggles so her and I figured out that the best way to get rid of my addiction was a radical (Entzug) and hell was it hard to just lay down and distract myself but I did it even though my head was loud. I found ways to distract myself and keep me busy if I want to walk around and right now I'm just thankful for the change, I have more energy and the circles under my eyes got a little bit better.
You might ask yourself what about my weight? Did I gain 10 kg+? NO! To my surprise I actually maintained my weight even though I ate the same as before. If you have a moving addiction then please try to get rid of it! Nothing bad will happen and you'll feel so much better I promise and if you need ways to distract yourself here are some of my best coping strategies: ➳ Coloring books🖍️
➳ Read a book
➳ Sudoku or any other quizzes
➳ Watch YouTube/TV/Netflix whatever you prefer! ➳ Bake a cake, cookies or cupcakes🍰
➳ Play with your pet if you have one 🐾
➳Write down your life goals 📝
➳ Practice make up💄
➳ Dress up with clothes you feel comfortable in👗
➳Listen to your fave songs and dance to it 🎶
➳Practice some self care 💅

I know it's hard but you got this!! And the most important thing: Delete all apps that track your activities, they're toxic and not seeing the number will make it easier ❤️ 💓 Moving addiction💓 - As you might know I struggled a lot with the urges to move around (in my case it was walking around all day) It was one of the biggest triggers for my relapse cause no matter how much I ate I still lost or maintained my weight. • After relapses and failing treatment, you believe the label “non compliant”, to the point that you no longer trust your own motivations. Chances are, something else is/was keeping you from recovery. (Photo credit @themindfuldietitian, Thankyou!) When you’re working with someone with a predisposition to turn to an eating disorder or physical addiction, you’re working with someone who experiences their emotions as an intense physical reality. Demonizing the eating disorder or physical addiction keeps you from understanding it for what it actually is—your survival level management of your intuitive system. Your body and intuitive system are extremely interconnected. Not only would it be unhelpful to change this part of yourself (research consistently proves that suppression doesn’t work long term), it would be a waste of your gift to try to suppress this interconnected relationship. Instead the goal is understanding how to work with yourself in more productive ways.

If you need help evolving this relationship within yourself, send us a message to get started today. • (Ugh Emily... start looking at the camera ya weirdo!) here are some things people don’t talk about in #eatingdisorderecovery. It’s been a while since I talked about this topic because a while it’s just all felt stagnant in my life. It’s not good, it’s not bad, it’s just there. In today’s world, when sharing about #eatingdisorders and #mentalhealth people just want to know the nitty gritty. They want to know the numbers, the analytics, the really real, deep struggle. But what people don’t talk about is how you dissociate from your body. When you struggle with self-image and food and exercise somehow you disconnect your body from who you are. In a sense you are just carrying around your body as your personality tries to thrive and break through your lowly thoughts about yourself. But when you work hard and learn to talk back to your ED voice and stand up for yourself (body and all) miracles happen y’all! Go to #therapy, do the stupid workbook, listen to those podcasts, dance it out... whatever it is, do it and do it well! Don’t give up, be consistent, because one day you’ll wake up feeling in tact. You’ll wake up and not feel foggy. You’ll feel your body and self as one. You’ll feel grounded and safe and at home. For some reason in 2019 a lot of people don’t care about this “after” because we’re all caught up in the struggle... but girl as you get all caught up in that, you’re missing out on a whole lot of other stuff... freedom stuff!! So here I am telling you, DO THE WORK. DO IT WELL. DO IT CONSISTENTLY! You got this girl!! #mentalhealthadvcacy #eatingdisorderawareness #freedom (Ugh Emily... start looking at the camera ya weirdo!) here are some things people don’t talk about in #eatingdisorderecovery. • Did you hear about the new app (@kurbohealth) created by Weight Watchers for kids? .
.
Weight Watchers employ a low fat, low calorie model ⬇️ which may have helped some people lose weight, but whether it creates health, is another story! 🤔 .
.
They've now designed an app for kids as little as 8 years old, where they require kids to eat foods that are from the 'green' list and avoid foods from the 'red' list.🚦
.
.
Some people may think there is no problem with this and I understand the intentions behind designing such an app; tackling childhood obesity which indeed IS on the rise.
.
.
BUT are avocados and chia seeds really the culprit? According to the app they certainly are as they are considered 'red light' foods because of their fat content? 🙈
.
.
Last I checked healthy fats were supremely important for brain development, hormones, blood sugar management, proper gall bladder function and absorption of fat soluble vitamins 🤨
.
.
I also wonder how this will affect an 8 year old girls relationship with food, her gallbladder, hormones and eventually fertility?!
.
.
In my humble opinion I think there is much more to childhood obesity than what meets the eye. To mention a few:
.
.
🦠 The Gut Microbiome
👩‍🏫 Lack of exposure and education around food/nutrition
🧐 Lack of good role models
🖥 Advertisements 🏛Socio-Economic Factors
🧬Genetic Predispositions .
.
According to the National Eating Disorder Association 14-15 year olds who were 'dieting' (gosh I hate that word) were 5 times more likely to develop eating disorders. 😥
.
.
So parents interested in this app PLEASE consider the potential risks before resorting to over simplistic measures.🧐
.
.
Catch me on my stories tomorrow where I discuss what I do with my toddler to try and foster a healthy relationship with food.👩‍👦
.
.

Have you heard about the app? What do you think?🤔
