Eggs! These little powerhouses need to be on the menu daily for pregnant and breastfeeding mummas. They are rich in choline, a critical nutrient for optimal foetal development. A recent study has shown the offspring of women who consume sufficient choline throughout their pregnancy gain enduring cognitive benefits. A pregnant women needs 450mg a day while a nursing mumma requires 550mg. There is roughly 126mg of choline in one large egg yolk. Liver is another great source. 🥚
Chickens need to eat their biologically appropriate diet - grass and bugs - to be healthy, so always choose pastured eggs from local farmers. Unless you’re currently pregnant, keep your yolks runny or raw. Pregnant mummas needs to cook their eggs through, especially when eating out in restaurants where contamination is more likely. If you can’t eat that many eggs a day, ditch some of the whites and increase the number of yolks. 🥚
I have some variation of this meal most days. Today I sautéed rainbow chard with spring onion, had left over roast veg to use up and lightly fried my eggs in loads of grass-fed butter. I have used 3 yolks to 2 whites. 🥚

We slept in today and stuck around the hood. We went to the Fiddler, a NE Seattle neighborhood staple! Food and service were great. We sat on the patio and had a few beers and some laughs! Can’t go wrong at the Fiddler, try the French dip 🥪.
Pictured here: biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs and bacon (I subbed hash browns for bacon), granola and fruit parfait, and Scott’s crab cake sandwich with a side salad. •
Always remember to eat something before exercising because you will over order when you finally have time to eat! But honestly - Ted’s Bulletin has solid food all the time (and an all day breakfast menu that is👌🏽). Their portions are also huge and you will not leave hungry!
We use traditional guanciale in our #carbonara in place of bacon or pancetta. This robustly flavoured smoked meat uses the fatty lower cheek meat from the pig. When it’s cooked the fat renders down and flavours the egg sauce beautifully. A Roman classic. #guanciale#floureggswatersurryhills
