A goal isn’t a goal without a deadline.
-
Ever heard that?
-
Logically I can’t seem to make any sense of it.
-
I mean, I guess if we flip the perspective a bit.
-
Usual weight loss goal:
-
Lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks.
-
Woof—good luck with that.
-
Not saying it isn’t possible, I’m just saying the math, genetics, environmental and lifestyle variables at play make it pretty tough for you to control.
-
Maybe by a lot.
-
Here’s a better way.
-
Lose 20 pounds in 20 pounds.
-
The deadline now isn’t a timed deadline.
-
It’s a deadline based on the goal itself.
-
Takes some pressure off to know you can lose that 20 in 20 weeks.
-
But you could also lose it in 20 minutes including periods of maintenance where you’ll likely add some muscle which will bring you closer to what you’re actually looking for anyways.
-
What I’m saying is stop making TIME the ultimate piece of the goal.
-
Make getting there and staying there while keeping your head right the goal.
-
This is something that can happen in one sprint...but you’ve gotta leave the door open to the idea of stops and starts.
-
Sometimes keeping the food low enough to lose weight isn’t so hard
-
Sometimes you’ve got sick kids, work stress, relationship crap and ill family members.
-
And although I’d avoid total apathy to your health..I would strongly consider you leave the option available to relieve some pressure and adjust expectations.

Slow down a little. Because it may feel like too much to be chasing a fairly meaningless 20 pounds off as fast as possible goal when you could just take a little longer and handle your shit.

Or ya know, keep finding out life is gonna sway the way it will every single time you try and change your habits.

You’ve gotta learn to change your habits overall. But don’t expect what that looks like when times are easy to be exactly the same during stress.

You’re always in control of how you react, and that’s pretty awesome.

Disappointed in the little funding there was for cancer research. Fox with an amputated leg, decided to run in his own #themarathonforhope from East coast of Canada to the West coast with the goal of raising $1000000.
