Day 1: Foster Mom Voyage - Canela
Today after another amazing SoCal Bulldogs Rescue event, we brought home Canela. Our first foster, Bella, helped us fall in love with fostering.
When we first met Canela she seemed like a reserved, cautious dog, a dog with no interest in being smothered with love. But as she hung her head out of the truck on the way home with a giant crooked smile on her silly face I realized this is one badass little mama with wind blown ears!
Quickly she had an incredibly lady-like new nickname “Cans” and was walking around like she owned the joint. We cracked up as we watched Cans corky little personality come out. Including, self made obstacle courses, her claim on the corner of the couch (the girl demands an armrest), her perfectly executed downward facing dog, and her casual mountain goat climbing abilities.
Right now as Cans is sprawled out next to me on her couch corner snoring, looking like a cross between a pot belly pig and a frenchie, I feel proud knowing that we are able to get her out of the kennels and provide a couch corner that’s officially Can’s Corner, until she leaves us for her forever home.
