Happy to get our signed copy of Danna Standridge’s “Time to Eat, Y’all!”, a heritage cookbook released in conjunction with the 200th anniversary of the state of Alabama and featuring recipes contributed by many of our state officers, senators, and representatives. Having settled here in my early adulthood, I am still learning about this great state!
I met Danna two years ago at a business meeting that mainly concerned our husbands. We quickly discovered a mutual love of knitting, and that sealed the start of a new and special friendship.
Thank you, Danna, for the autograph and for the message from Numbers 6:24-26!
Do you have friends that give you eggs from their chickens, vegetables from their garden, fish from their catch, or share in other ways? What do you do for them in return?
We have a friend that has shared his eggs with us for years. There is just something special about fresh eggs that I love. Knowing where they came from, the hands that gathered them, and the friendship that shared them, makes them “eggstra” special to me.
We have shared deer sausage in return, hams, baked goods and I even brought home a gift for our egg friends from our visit to Pioneer Woman’s Mercantile Store in Pawhuska.
Well, it got hot a few weeks ago and the chickens quit laying. That was a reminder to me that you don’t know how good you’ve got something until it’s gone!
I was thinking about our friends and their chickens today as I was driving. I ended up pulling off the interstate at West, stopped at West Feeds and got some hen scratch for the chickens! I’ve always thanked our friends but this time, I’m thanking the chickens! I’m also hoping they will get back to work again soon! Come on cooler weather! #fresheggs#henscratch#friendship#dountoothers#westfeed
I remember feeling so lonely as a new mom. I didn’t really have any super close friendships. I kept people at a safe distance because I never felt like I was good enough for them. .
Then I found these girls. They see my flaws and my imperfections and they love me anyways. They’re quirky just like me. .
Having a support system like this in place has made all the difference in my life. With these girls by my side, I feel like I can do anything! ❤️
Do you struggle to make friends as an adult?
Look for the people who bring out the light in those 👀 You get to pick your team in this life. Choose wisely💛
Life isn’t always easy and for sure isn’t always fair but if you look for people who see the light in you, and if you actively draw out the light in others, it can be more beautiful even in the worst of moments. Be the light ☀️ even when you can’t completely see any. See people, truly see and hear them. Look deeper than what’s on the surface and what someone puts out into the world 🌎 every person is more complicated than what you perceive at first glance. Every pair of eyes tells a story, look deeply, love deeply, and live each day with passion and purpose. In the darkness, always remember that your circle ⭕️ will help you rediscover and find that light 💡 •
