Almost 80 years since Henry Ford created his Hemp car, a hemp car is darting back and forth on American roads. The idea is of Bruce Dietzen, American engineer and founder of Renew Sports Cars who aims to create an entire compartment of sports cars with a hemp fiber shell.
In fact, the company based in Key West, Florida, has created a prototype of what - according to their intentions - should be the car of the future. There are three versions of the car with 225 and 525 horsepower engines, powered by biodiesel or ethanol, again derived from hemp, in addition to the electric one. The target income range is medium-high, with very competitive prices.
For the qualities of the bodywork and engine system, the Renew Sports Cars line represents a real revolution in sustainable mobility. The shell is in fact made of 100% hemp fiber, a material that respects the environment since it is able to capture carbon dioxide in the air throughout its life cycle. According to data provided by the manufacturer, the cars reach high speeds comparable to those of high-powered cars like the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. The Canna 252 horses, which has a turbo engine with the Flyin 'Myata brand, reaches around 304 km / h and costs 69,000 dollars. The Canna 525, the most powerful in the range, is designed for those who have experience with fast cars.
