My name is Melanie LaPorte, graduated in 2017 and I am currently a Junior at Auburn University. I am majoring in Apparel Merchandising and minoring in Visual Studies. Upcoming summer I will study abroad in Italy to get my international minor! I am currently in the Modeling board at Auburn university and an awesome organization called AMDA (Apparel merchandising & design association). We just launched our first blog called “Swatch.” Go check it out! My dream job is to work in the fashion industry in New York! Maybe even work with a magazine with my visual studies minor. I just want to inspire others and show you can wear anything you want and doesn’t matter who are you or what you look like. For upcoming freshman, I really enjoy Auburn University and all the opportunities it has given me! Highly encourage to come to this school and War Eagle! #wherearetheynowwednesday#goom#omhs
Premium tickets include the best seats in the house, a lanyard to bypass the ticket line (great to wrap for Christmas gifts!) and tickets to our brunch with the cast at 12 on January 11. But they are only on sale through November 15, so grab them now on GoFan (link in bio.) We’ll have them available at the office for pickup before Christmas break so you can wrap them as holiday gifts. #oakmountain#goom#omhs#omhschoir#goommusical#birminghamalabama
The Oak Mountain basketball team has a ton of talent back on this year's team, and it's also a motivated group after last season ended earlier than the Eagles had hoped. See the SCR report here:
My name is Kaitlyn (Zeek) Lee. I graduated from Oak Mountain High School in 2011! Once I graduated I headed to the University of Alabama (roll tide) and graduated in 2015 with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education! Teaching has always been my passion and I have so many educators to thank for that. Growing up in the Oak Mountain school system gave me the opportunity to have teachers that truly care and are compassionate about what they do. From first Grade Mrs. Scott’s class at Inverness , to Mr. Feldman always helping me with math, it was a community that always cared and encouraged you to reach your dreams.
Today, I am currently a 1st grade teacher Gardendale Elementary School and Gardendale High Schools Dance Team Coach. I received my masters degree in Elementary Education from West Alabama. I just recently married my high school sweetheart, Tyler Lee, and we have the sweetest golden pup named Lyla.
Teaching littles and coaching high school has its up and downs. It truly is a calling, but my heart was lead to do it. Teaching is also my biggest blessing. Not only have I (hopefully) made a tiny difference in one of my students lives but they have each made a difference in my life and taught me more than any textbook could. If I can share any advice to those still in high school it would be to have courage and be kind. You are capable of doing anything you put your mind too if you have the courage. Enjoy these years in high school and love every minute and treat each other with kindness. Hold on to those friendships when you leave. Do not wish it away because it goes by faster than you think.
Another chapter closed last night as our 2019 marching season came to an end. Congratulations to our band on an outstanding performance at the Alabama Marching Band Championships, earning a fourth place overall finish, second place music ensemble score, and third place color guard score in Class 7A! Thank you to our many parent chaperones, bus captains, truck dawgs, uniform volunteers, and staff that have helped make this season such a tremendous success! Coming soon...don’t miss our fall concert November 12 and our Christmas concert December 10! #araceagainsttime#goom @ Hoover Metropolitan Stadium
From 2013 to today, we want to thank our wonderful seniors for their commitment to our band over the last seven years. We love you all! Now - just one performance remains. State Championships tomorrow! #goom#araceagainsttime
