Welcome to my England Football Team Instagram Page.
The first photo just had to be the most iconic photo in our Nations history. England captain Bobby Moore holds aloft the World Cup (Jules Rimet trophy) as the team gather around to celebrate.
The 1966 FIFA World Cup tournament was played in England between 11 & 30 July 1966. It was the eighth FIFA World Cup, the first having been played in 1930. England defeated West Germany 4–2 in the final to win their first World Cup; the match had finished at 2–2 after 90 minutes & went to extra time, when Geoff Hurst scored two goals to complete his hat-trick, the first to be scored in a World Cup final, with spectators storming the pitch during the fourth goal.
In addition to an attendance of 96,924 at the stadium, the British television audience peaked at 32.3 million viewers, making it the United Kingdom's most-watched television event ever.
England were the fifth nation to win the event, & the third host nation to win after Uruguay in 1930 & Italy in 1934. Brazil were the defending champions, but they failed to progress from the group stage.

As we watch the documentary about #gordonbanks, we remember the challenges we all overcame to making sure a true gent and legend got the statue he deserved and that it was located at the Club he loved so much.
With the International Break now upon us I thought I’d do my best ever England Team. Let me know your thoughts and who’d be in your team. Below is a quick reason for picking each player... GK - Gordon Banks. Won the World Cup and made THAT save against Pele.
DEF - Ashley Cole. Bit of a nob for cheating on Cheryl but in his prime was the best left back in the game.
DEF - Bobby Moore. Only England captain to lead us to World Cup glory and has a statue outside Wembley. ‘Nuff said really.
DEF - Stuart Pearce. Absolutely fearless and played with more passion than any other player.
MID - Steven Gerrard. Didn’t quite hit his club form at International level but still one of the best players to put on an England shirt.
MID - Paul Scholes. Pick any of the worlds best players that played with or against him and they all say he was the best. First name on the Team Sheet.
MID - Raheem Sterling. The best current England player by a mile and doing some great work off the pitch for equality.
MID - Paul Gascoigne. The tortured genius but on his day one of the world’s best. That Euro 96 goal against Scotland is not only one of my earliest England memories but also one of the best.
MID - David Beckham. Hands down my favourite England player ever. Might not have been the best but he played with so much passion. Best crosser the game has ever seen too.
FWD - Alan Shearer. Fantastic goal scorer and his one hand in the air was my go to celebration when I played. The Premier League’s all time too goal scorer too.
FWD - Geoff Hurst. The only player EVER to score a hat trick in a World Cup Final. Against Germany. The reason for the “They Think It’s All Over” saying. Of course it crossed the line. And I saw him in an airport once. Legend.
GORDON BANKS ⬇️
