Trip to Salalah: day3: Our day starts very early..being a part of an 'offroading' club means discipline and a respect for every member in the group. Being on time is the first rule. So the appointed time to get set and leave is fixed for 9.00 am. Big G, Lendyl and I wake up at 6.00 am, prepare our meals for the day and rush to have a hearty breakfast at a quiet restaurant tucked away in the neighborhood of our meeting place..Chapatis and puris, straight from the pan, served with spicy delicious kheema and green vatana (beef mince with hydrated green peas), egg bhurji( spicy scrambled egg) and potato bhaji( spiced and tangy potatoes cooked with onions and chilis). All washed down with piping hot coffee.
The day started well. We drove into the sunlight with set plans to drive about 350 kms, South West towards the Yemini border. All went well until we crossed the mountains and were hit by blankets of fog! The plan was to visit some sites filled with natures beauty but nature thought otherwise! We could not reach our goal of seeing the Dhalkot rock..But we did pass through tropical forests with flora and fauna that I am familiar with. We did visit the Wadi Sayq and Lendyl had every intention of swimming there but unfortunately, the water has become stagnant and filled with algae. But a beautiful place.. that's the small pond of blue water. If it had rained well this season that would have been a flowing lake. But the best part of the day was the surprise of the evening!
