  • Lets talk #emotionaleating in the first blog I discussed the biological reactions to stress and how that con contribute to overeating. 
Emotional eating occurs is when we are eating to not satisfy our #hunger and we are eating yo satisfy our emotional needs... Stressed= eat!
Angry= eat!
Boredom= eat!
Sick= eat!
Happy= eat!

We all do it and it's not necessarily a bad thing on occasion but it becomes a bad thing when it's a crutch to cope. We talk about short term downfalls vs long term gains in our #managingwellbeing sessions. Short term downfalls are things that make us feel better temporarily such as comfort eating but often doing these things mask the original emotion and are likely to cause more issues long term. 
Being mindful and having body awareness allows us to recognize when we are using these crutches. If comfort eating is an ongoing battle for you and your not quite sure why then it's time to look at an emotional wellbeing food diary. (Template should be added by next week to www.togetherwe.co.uk/weightmanagement) 
When emotional eating occurs, take a mindful moment to think:
🔴 what are you thinking about? 🔴 who is with you? 🔴 what are you doing? 🔴 what did you eat? 🔴 how are you feeling? 
By recognizing our triggers, we are often able to avoid or remove them.

If your struggling to recognize the difference between emotional and real hunger remember:
🔴 emotional hunger comes on suddenly
🔴 you tend to crave specific foods 🔴 you are rarely satisfied after eating, when experiencing emotional hunger
