I’m about to bombard you with far more photos than are insta-appropriate over the next few days while I update my feed with the million projects I haven’t gotten around to posting yet 🤷♀️. Starting with this one for @kalebnormanjames and captured by @omalleyphotographers . Last year I started experimenting with custom envelopes, or in this case boxelopes :) I printed the inside with an antique painting of Lake Como and the exterior with a red clay illustration of Italian countryside. Then hand scored the fold lines, cut the shape on the laser, before finally assembly and gluing. Custom envelopes are no joke but I sure do love them even with their crazy labor 🤓
Few days before end of June, Daddy was in Jakarta, I allowed Vivi to sleep in my room. Before sleeping, chatty Vivi asked me questions.
Vivi: “Mommy, what’s the thing you like?”
Me: *was too tired to answer yet thinking hard* “Mmmmm.. what’s the thing I like... Maybe... massage?”
Vivi: “Thing, Mommy. Thing! Not doing!”
Me: “Hahaha... ok, ok. Maybe precious stone?
I like rings and bracelets.”
Vivi: “Ohhhh, jewel? You like jewel?!”
Me: “Ya, I quite like it. Why?!”
Vivi: “Ok, now I know what you like! Do you realise it’s almost July, Mommy. July! *with excited tone* (My birthday is on July)”
Me: “Why you asked me this kind of questions? Is it something to do with my birthday? *with suspicious tone*
Vivi: *quiet for a while, knowing she almost spilled the secret* “Ohhh, nooo, Mommy. Nooo... it’s not about your birthday. Nothing on your birthday. Your birthday gonna be a boriiiiing birthday...”
I laughed and laughed until stomachache.
Few days ago, I became thrilled to know what’s my kids plan to surprise me. I love surprises and know they will surprise me, but curiosity in me wanted to know what’s their surprise is😂 So I dig the info fr Vivi. I actually expect she will act like she didn’t know anything. Oh, well😂
“Vi, you girls planned something for me, right?! I know you will surprise me. What will you do?!”
“I don’t know, Mommy. My job is only to bring you to the lobby. The rest of the plan, I don’t know, only Ce Jojo knows!”
😂😂😂 She really cannot keep a secret😂😂😂
Jojo came to the room. I told her cheekily that I know she will surprise me. I told her what Vivi told me.
“See, I already knew she will spill the secret, that’s why I didn’t tell her anything. I knew this gonna happen.” (Omygosh, she really knows her sister well🤣🤣🤣🤣)
So yeah, I still don’t know what will happen 😂
Heading to Lake Como was the perfect way to wind down from all the running around we did through Italy! Grandiose views, quaint villages, and to top it off, crossing paths with good friends!
We stayed in Varenna which is situated across from Bellagio and Menaggio. ♥️
I have been pretty quiet over here! That’s because I have been working so hard to get all of my editing list completed before I head to Texas on Saturday! I accomplished my goal!! I officially have completed my workload!!
Lago di Como 🚤
July last year, we were cruising around in Franny the Fiat enjoying the awe inspiring views around Lake Como, Italy. We stayed in the cutest Airbnb high above the lake near Mandello Di Lario. Turned out the family also owned one of the best restaurants in the area (great rap on #lonelyplanet) and the husband was a sommelier. We arrived late after getting lost and he welcomed us with open arms, broken English, a smile and a bottle of wine from his well stocked cellar. What more could you want!
This side of the lake was quieter and less touristy and with towns like these it’s hard not to put on some cat eye sunglasses and pretend your Sophia Loren for the day.
Have you guys been to the Italian Lake District?
We left Venice this morning and headed to Verona for lunch. We visited Juliet's balcony from Romeo and Juliet, Nicolas (and Lex) got a boob-rub in for good luck in romance 🤣❤️ Now, I'm a little perplexed by this, as I don't really associate Juliet with luck in romance?! Lol, anyways...
We had a great lunch, checked out the very well preserved 2000 year old amphitheater (which is still in use for events, which is cool). And we had gelato. Of course. At least twice a day is a must 😉
We drove on to Lake Como, where we have a great little hotel right downtown. We grabbed the bathing suits and some towels and hit the marina. We had spotted a splashpad and playground, and the kids were delighted.
You'd think you could swim in Lake Como, but it's so built up, every piece of like front is taken, lol. Also, no sign of George Clooney, darn!
After some playtime we hit this nice little hole in the wall restaurant, great food, service and affordable. I find Italy to be quite pricey, and they have this annoying cover charge, just for letting you sit down, sometimes 3 euro per person! Crazy 🤨
Then we played some tag on the big square by the water, and the kids had some more ice cream since they were spectacular at dinner.
Tomorrow we're driving through the Swiss alps, and I'm stoked! :D #italy#verona#como#lakecomo#travelwithkids#europebycar
