I had noticed the sunsets were more colourful than usual. Then, I read today that the eruption of a Russian volcano in June has been adding a purple hue to sunrises and sunsets the world over.⠀
The volcano Raikoke spewed sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, creating tiny particles called aerosols. The aerosols scatter sunlight, resulting in more purples at sunrise and sunset according to researchers at the University of Colorado.⠀
"It makes you realize that you don't have to put a whole lot of aerosols into the stratosphere to change its composition," Lars Kalnajs, a research associate at CU's Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, said in a statement. "This was a relatively small volcanic eruption, but it was enough to impact most of the Northern Hemisphere." 😲 🌋🌅📷 🤔
This fall & winter I’m going to keep things simple and focus my attention on more minimalistic images like this one. I talk more about this plan in this week’s video “How to EMBRACE Minimalism for IMPROVED Landscape Photos” Link N Bio✨Thanks for watching everyone!
