Yesterday was NET (Neuroendocrine) Cancer Awareness Day. If you haven’t heard of NET cancer, neither had I until my sister, while pregnant with her second child, was diagnosed with it... and it ultimately took her life.
NET cancerous tumors are rare and often misdiagnosed. It often presents as pancreatic cancer, and the delayed diagnosis greatly impacts the prognosis. “Overall, it is estimated that more than 12,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a NET cancer every year.” The number of people diagnosed with this type of tumor has increased by more than 5% each year. I hate that the number of diagnoses is increasing, but I can only hope that means there is more research and education being done to diagnose and treat these tumors.
Knowledge is power!! Please take a moment to read about #net tumors. You never know the next sister, family member or friend that could benefit from early detection.
