• A total of 420 miles driving in less then 12 hours to capture the moon rising on the boarder of #Mexico in #algodonesdunes to the moon setting this morning at my local spot in #lagunabeach.
.
Call me crazy but I’m simply having way to much fun with my new 200-600mm lens! So exhausted from a late night drive coming back from the @mammothphotofest event and coming off a really bad case of food poisoning I convinced myself to stay home for a change, relax and take it easy the following day.
.
Yesterday came with a phone called from my good friend @jakesteed808 saying he had the day off and was wondering if I wanted to check out these dunes that we’ve always wanted to see. I knew a nearly full moon was rising just as the sun was setting and OF COURSE I changed my mind and was all in 100%! I put some final touches on my next video edit that I’m working on, packed up my gear in my @atlaspacks and off I went.
.
We were running against the clock and literally got there barley in time for sunset. As we both were running as fast as we could to climb the dunes here’s comes the rising moon. I was seriously short of breath but quickly feel back into hyper focus mode. I set up the camera picked a comp and off I went! We couldn’t believe our eyes how beautiful the moon looked as it broke horizon.
.
The night there after led to a few self portraits in these untouched sands, a quick ride down the dunes on a surfboard and some good conversation. We made our way home around 10pm super stoked and content that we finally got to scout this location. I on the other hand got home at 2am and set my alarm clock for 530am to capture now the setting moon at a local beach that I love and adore.
.
All in all, I have to say it was a awesome last 12 hours chasing the glorious moon. Goes to show you will never know where each day takes you. Hope you enjoy these series of photos of a great memory chasing our one and only Luna.
