  • Workout Wednesday: Neck pain while traveling? .

While @marissahamera and I are traveling fiends - a lot of planes, trains and cars will sure stiffen up a neck .
.
Respecting the complexity of the human body and what professionals provide by properly assessing and treating the numerous possible pathologies it may take on, this strategy seems to help prior to the long haul.

We call this chunking and we are targeting right rotation of the cervical spine (since that’s where I’m experiencing the limitation.
.
.
The execution is simple! Using a left (this is the secret sauce 🤓) same side rotation lunge, perform 2-3 reps to end range WITH your 👀 following your 🖐 .
.
Next perform the same lunge but stop the 👀 at left 135, then at left 90, 45 and finally keep the eyes fixed forward while performaing the rotational lunge in essence chunking the eyes and head away from the direction the rest of the body goes. .
.
Why does this work for reducing neck tightness?! Well that’s where the beauty of @grayinstituteofficial comes in with #afs .

#CLIENTSPOTLIGHT this is @marvturnerpt who I have the pleasure of helping with nutrition aspect of his training!! Marv competes as a NATURAL power lifter and his progress over the last few years has been fantastic! Marv is one of the top 3 in the United Kindom in his weight class of 105kg with some scary lifts and a total of 740kg! Only issue we ran into is that Marvs body likes to grow muscle tissue easily so each comp was getting harder to get him into that 105kg class! No drastic weight cuts no drastic diet just slow and steady progress to comp day focusing on performance and recovery! Discussions have been had and we feel his next move for his progress is going to compete in the under 120kg class the progress this lad will make is scary and mark my words over the next few years he will be fighting for top spot ! Long gone are the days where powerlifters and strongmen would just get FAT for strength! Look at some of the worlds current best like thor, Larry wheels, terry Holland’s, Mariusz pudinowski, zydruna savisckas! All dropped body fat and follow STRUCTURE!!
