I think Freyja might be starting brumation...does anyone have any tips to help her? I’m seeing if I can schedule a vet visit for her, but I’m super worried. I only just rescued her, so I don’t know how much she was eating before she started.
Well I bet that feels better. No 5 had palpable masses when she arrived which we suspected were eggs. Looks like they have been there a while.
This is the exact reason female reptiles need the correct environmental temperatures and areas they feel comfortable to lay to prevent reproductive issues. These are uncommon in female snakes in comparison to other reptiles, but are possible, however they often end up as surgical procedures as medical management isn’t as affective in snakes as other reptiles.
Many of you have offered these snakes (actually only 5 and 9) homes. This is why the assessment period is so important. 5 will certainly not be leaving until we know she is fighting fit. #cornsnake#cornsnakes#cornsnakesofinstagram#dumped#eggs#reptile#reptiles#reptilesofinstagram#the9

Ooo pick me, pick me!
Rubble the Savannah monitor seeks attention all the time. Monitors are some of the most intelligent lizards on the planet and have been known to have “dog-like” bonds with their owners. Part of his attention seeking comes from an unhealthy habit of charging the front doors of his cage when he sees me, thinking I am going to give him food. I have started to work at target training him during feeding sessions so he is not like this as a full grown monitor, who by the way has bigger claws, sharper teeth, and a way more serious bite.
