A closer look at Andres and Lindsay’s wedding cake — with a whisper of dusky lavender ombré on the base tier, and sugar flowers (garden roses, lavender, hydrangeas, and eucalyptus). The cake was so perfect for its setting @woodinvillelavender. On the inside: Pink Champagne with raspberry mousseline, and brown sugar cake with black currant and boysenberry mousseline.
I read somewhere that summer should get a speeding ticket and couldn’t agree more! Can’t believe August is almost gone and we’ll soon be saying hello to Fall in no time
Inside this ombré cake are layers of chocolate espresso cake filled with dark chocolate ganache
Sugar flowers on pleated buttercream for Abbie and Colin. The rose was inspired by the “amnesia” variety, which can veer toward silvery-grey with dusky lavender accents. We also added calla lilies, dusty miller, and ruscus to tie in with the couple’s overall floral design. On the inside: Dark chocolate cake with raspberry mousseline, and pink champagne cake with raspberry mousseline. (We also supplied a separate vegan dark chocolate & raspberry cake especially for the vegan and lactose-free guests — and so that planner @flyinganchoreventdesign could have a slice too!) 😃
Welcome!! I’m so excited that YOU are here because if you found this page that means we already have something in common: a love for all things CAKES!! I decided to open up this page to share my cake designs, videos, and maybe even a few tutorials!
If you are in the area and would be interested in purchasing one of my cakes please feel free to send me a message and we can work through the details!
I appreciate all of your support and I am so excited to get my bake on!! These two cakes are:
Very moist chocolate cake with a peanut butter frosting!
One cake was make for an in-laws birthday and the other was donated to a church fundraiser where it raised $145 to help the young women pay for a summer camp.
A sweet little painted buttercream wedding cake, in shades of dusky purple and mauve, with a sugar succulent topper and sugar banner featuring the couple’s shared last name. On the inside: Our 9-year best selling London Fog flavor (Earl Grey cake + bergamot syrup + lavender Swiss meringue buttercream)! Can’t go wrong... 😁
Sugar flowers for Gillian and Jared — garden roses, classic roses, hydrangeas, gilded berries, and foliage. What a gorgeous wedding this was! Lovely working with our industry friends @juniper_flowers, @solomonevents, and DJ Austin Beaver (please get on Insta, buddy!).
For Klaudia and Nick’s wedding @alderbrookresort: Three buttercream tiers finished in three ways: Horizontal pleats, smooth, and diagonal pleats. Planning by @kaylacookevents, flowers supplied by @cmsfloral_design and styled onto cake by Mr. Honey Crumb (@stephanschier!). On the inside: Lemon cake + blueberry compote + lemon Swiss meringue buttercream.
I put in an application for the Phinney Ridge Winter Craft fair yesterday. I’m hoping to offer sugar cookies, macarons and some other treats for the holiday table and gift giving. I was inspired Christmas illustrations from 1960’s for this sugar cookie. Funny thinking about Winter in the middle of Summer.❄️☃️☀️🌈
Have a good weekend! .
🎶 Baby SHARK do doo do do do doo! 🎶 (We’re still singing it days after making the cake...! 😆) Sloane turned one and her grandma got her a special cake to celebrate, in Vanilla Velvet with a pink ombré exterior, and custom sea-themed decor by @beccajoyc. It was a hit (just like the theme song... 😂)!
Some people are stargazers... we are flowergazers. 🌸 🤩
Sugar flowers last forever, they never wilt or turn brown, they don’t have a limited blooming season, and they aren’t sprayed with pesticides or preservative chemicals like commercially grown fresh flowers. So the question is, if you’re planning to have flowers on your cake, why *wouldn’t* you want them to be made of sugar?
Even in the midst of wedding season, we love creating celebration cakes for kids, like this teal buttercream two-tier with a dinosaur theme for Amalia’s 3rd birthday! On the inside: Lemon cake + blueberry compote + lemon Swiss meringue buttercream, and dark chocolate cake with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. If you could be 3 years old again, what kind of cake would YOU want? 🦕🦖🍰
For Alyssa and Lars: A semi-naked finish on the base (with two flavors beneath: Lemon Blueberry and Chocolate Raspberry), opaque frosting on the top tier, and a spectacular (and gigantic!) sugar dahlia by @christinemariegordon as the pièce de résistance.
Happy Birthday to a 2 year old Incredibles fan! On the inside is my super moist chocolate cake, vanilla swiss meringue buttercream and salted caramel.
Over the years I have accumulated lots of go-to cake recipes that I can make in my sleep and that I am very confident in. But, I have to be honest that chocolate was one I struggled with. Texture and strength is important to me in cakes as it is vital for building wedding cakes and finding a chocolate cake that was super moist and had a good texture was hard. I love the recipe I am using now as the crumb is great and flavor is terrific. I use cocoa powder, a healthy dose of vanilla and lots of excellent coffee to achieve a balanced chocolate flavor that I really like!
Custom sugar flowers and painted buttercream in dusky blues made our hearts sing over here! Tennie and Shane really love Euphorbia Characias (native to the Balkans and Turkey) and asked us to make them out of sugar for the cake, along with mountain laurels (the state flower of Connecticut) and some big showy peonies in pink! The euphorbias are so intricate, with all their delicate little trumpet-like bracts, that making them in sugar really is a labor of love — a process that spanned several days. The cake was displayed in the center of the room, so we placed two clusters of flowers on it (one in front, one at the back) for 360-degree visual interest! Lovely to see and work with our friends @melaniebensonfloral, @manettegracie, @weddingsbyjenn and @brandonpatoc at this beautiful wedding for a wonderful couple! [Flavors: Espresso cake with bourbon salted caramel buttercream, and pink champagne cake with raspberry mousseline.]
