Mastering the ball is an aspect of the game that can determine how far you excel in your football career. You can never practice mastering and manipulating the ball enough. Foundations are often overlooked in football, as players want to focus on skills and tricks rather than just simply being able to control and move the ball. Remember the ability to perform skills with the ball, only comes off your ability to manipulate it.
The two cone ball mastery drill is a alternative ball mastery drill that you can use to help you master the ball. There are various different ball mastery drills and no one in particular is better than the other, it's all personal preference. As long as you practicing the techniques correctly, you will be improving. The skills and techniques you practice in this drill can translate into a game as you may find yourself in a tight area or under pressure, and therefore needing to move the ball away from danger. This drill also requires very little equipment and can be performed in a tight area.
Look to set up two cones approximately 50cm apart. Look to perform 3 sets of each ball mastery technique lasting between 30 and 60 seconds. Begin to practice with the ones in the video before progressing.
