Did you know the U.S. Census Bureau reports that 27.5 million people were uninsured in 2018—almost 2 million more people than in 2017? This change has had a marked effect on coverage among young adults, women, and low-income families in particular. #Socialworkers have an important role in educating individuals about the benefits of health insurance and connecting them to coverage. The open enrollment period to secure #healthinsurance coverage for 2020 is Friday, November 1 to Sunday, December 15, 2019. You must enroll by the December 15 deadline to have coverage on January 1, 2020. Individuals looking for health insurance coverage options should be directed to buff.ly/PhknXI Open enrollment is coming up! #socialwork #nasw #napsw #health #healthinsurance #perinatalsocialwork #medicalsocialwork #repost @naswsocialworkers (@get_repost) ・・・ Did you know the U.S. Census Bureau reports that 27.5 million people were uninsured in 2018—almost 2 million more people than in 2017? • Tomorrow on Giving Day you can help provide hands-on opportunities for students to practice #socialwork! The Garland School Excellence Fund allows us to provide for “extra” uses beyond what our operational budget allows.
Such “extras” can include technology updates, classroom equipment, conference attendance for students to learn from experts, #research materials, hosting our own workshops, starting new programs and initiatives, and so much more!
Will you consider giving $50 tomorrow to celebrate #50years of social work education at #Baylor and help lead us into the next 50 years? #gsswimpact #sicemsocialwork #givingday Tomorrow on Giving Day you can help provide hands-on opportunities for students to practice #socialwork! • Doctors Told Her To Abort The Baby, But Taradevi Went Against All Odds To Give Birth To A Baby Girl

#Success Taradevi’s first child was born premature and had been struggling with developmental issues right from birth. But she never lost hope and readily welcomed her second child. But as fate would have it, her second child was born premature too. It was her 28th week when she suddenly started sweating profusely and lost consciousness. Her condition was so bad that the doctors were even preparing her for abortion soon. But Taradevi could not allow that to happen. She gave birth to a baby girl who weighed only 1.30kgs. Her baby had to be kept on a ventilator because she had severe respiratory difficulties and could not breathe on her own. She needed prolonged care in NICU but Taradevi and her husband had no means to afford the bills. With your support and generous contribution, Taradevi’s baby girl received proper care. Her lungs started functioning well and she gradually put on weight. The baby has been showing tremendous progress and is growing up to be a beautiful and healthy child. Taradevi thanks you for your generosity. • It’s been a minute since I’ve posted 🙌🏼I want to thank @ashleytneil for the inspo! She spoke about this a few weeks ago and it stuck with me. She said many of us can find it easy to support others who are in a dark place, as it can make us feel better about our own situations.
This is awful and exploitive but we often do it without hesitation because after all, who is going to know? On the opposite end of the spectrum.... how many times have you found yourself not being able to offer a sincere congratulations to someone who celebrated a huge victory that you did not? Have you found yourself struggling to clap, smile or even “like” a post about something celebratory for a friend or acquaintance? I know I have. It’s okay if you have too. But it’s important that we recognize it and work to change it.
People know when we’re not being genuine. They can “smell a rat” a mile away so don’t fake it.
Acknowledge that others may have things or be doing things that you don’t or may never have or will do. But remember, we all are on different paths, we all have different journeys. Don’t compare your overall life to someone’s curated online presence.

God has called us out of darkness, into His marvelous light, to love others with a genuine love. What an amazing opportunity to support our friends, neighbors and family when something amazing happens in their lives! But it can be hard. I know.
One thing that can be helpful is removing yourself from the equation. If a friend gets a raise and you have been praying for one for years, instead of getting envious that they received one and you did not, remove yourself from the equation. Think about how they feel in the moment and share in their joy!
