  • I was in Fresno for 13 hours last night / today and even though I was exhausted, I obbbbvvvviouslyyyy stopped by @crossfitfresno for a WOD with Coach @j0vinill 💙💚 I love this place and these people so much - all love, no judgment; no ego, healthy competition, and constant uplifting of each other. Even though I miss the people at CrossFit Fresno on the daily now that I live in the Bay Area, I’m super grateful to be able to drop in on these quick trips.   • HOME WORKOUT CONFESSION 🙊🙊🔥🔥⁣

Here goes: I’m glad I didn’t do the “press play” workouts in “real time,” because looking back, it taught me THREE valuable lessons about myself, my fitness, and my future. ⁣
⁣
Ok, ok, so occasionally I did them real time. ⁣
⁣
And I even had a phase where I made some for y’all. ⁣
⁣
But I’m glad I stopped doing those too✌🏼 RIP (it was exhausting AF & not the best use of my time, if I’m being honest 🤷🏼‍♀️ #SorryNotSorry) ⁣

I’ve been breaking the “rules” a bit longer than you thought, huh?! Not mad about it 👏🏼👏🏼⁣

But seriously, back to what I’ve learned:⁣

1️⃣ I ENJOY and CAN BE 100% accountable to MYSELF & the goals I HAVE in MY LIFE. I don’t “need” someone to show up to remind me that I’m worth my time - I am my own motivation!⁣

2️⃣ Being the boss is EMPOWERING AF! And what I mean by that, is I like CHOOSING how I want to train, when I want to train, what I want to listen to, and where I want to make progress. Random workouts couldn’t promise me that, and I like knowing that what I’m doing aligns with MY GOALS! ⁣
⁣
On a side note, I quit the home workout game a few years ago & I’m MUCH HAPPIER with how my body has responded to doing what I want to do in & out of the gym 💪🏼🍑⁣

3️⃣ I learned what it really means to have a JOURNEY & I have a whole new APPRECIATION for my body, how to fuel it, and how to honor it with movement! I FEEL GOOD & I am motivation ⁣

  • Is it weird to do a #mcm on your dad?

If it is I don’t care because I just want to brag on this man for a second.

He’s hands down the most selfless, caring, hard-working man I’ve ever met.

I could sit here + write about how great he is for literally ever, but I’ll spare you guys 😉

Tonight after my workout, while I was stretching, the sing my dad + I danced to at my wedding came on. I just started thinking about how incredible he is + how much I love him.

That’s all I’ve got for today. Happy Monday friends! Is it weird to do a #mcm on your dad? If it is I don’t care because I just want to brag on this man for a second. I WISH I HAD YOUR MOTIVATION!

Can I be honest? I wish I had motivation too lol.

But for real... most days, like today for example, working out was literally the LAST thing I wanted to do.

Do you know what I have? Discipline.

Do you know how to summarize me in one phrase? Purpose-driven.

Do you know that I could give you a list of each diagnosis I have, every single thing I’ve tried, the challenges I’ve faced, and yet still get up and get it done every day?

Why?

I know what it feels like to let the darkness win and I refuse to sink again.

Avery and I watched #wonderpark last night and I cried. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a must-see!

At one point one of the characters says, “The Darkness. It’s still there.” And the little girl who created this magic place with her mom (who was sent to “get better”) says, “Maybe it’ll never really fully go away. Maybe it’s there to remind us to look at the light that surrounds us.” What’s your light? Maybe it’s your kids. Your job. Your relationship. Your family. Your passion. Your faith. Whatever it is, it’s surrounding us all the time.

That darkness may always be there, maybe it’ll always be apart of you like it has been for me. But it’s how you live despite that... that’s what matters.

Today, don’t compare what you see on social media to what you’re going through. Instead, try to use it to inspire that light to pull you out of the darkness.
