  • REBECCA PETERSON GRABS HER SECOND ASIAN TITLE OF 2019 IN TIANJIN 6-4 6-4! Big congrats to Rebecca Peterson (@rebeccapeterson) On her splendid straight sets victory over Heather Watson in the final of the Tianjin Open! With this victory, she moves up to a new career high of #44 on the live WTA rankings which will become official tomorrow. She also takes home a check for $111,000! A very nice and lucrative way to end the season. She had to come back from a break down in each set, but managed to break right back in each case and then break again later in the set. Unfortunately for Heather, she wasn’t able to play at the same high level throughout the match that she showed in all of her previous matches at this tournament. She hit more winners then Rebecca did but she was undone by way too many unforced errors. It may also have been unfortunate for Heather that the match had to be moved indoors because of the persistent rain. The two Asian titles that Rebecca has won in the last month have rescued her season. 2018 was here breakout season when she steadily climbed the WTA rankings from #149 up to #52 before dropping back to #63 at the end of the season. In mid July, she became the #1 Player from Sweden is the ranking of Johanna Larsson was in serious decline at that point. She remained the #1 Swedish Player despite her declining ranking in the first half of 2019 because that of Larsson Was declining more severely. She started the 2019 season well by climbing back up to #54 In early February Based on good results in her second and third tournaments. But it was mostly downhill from there to a season low ranking of #78 in early September. Her title win in Nanchang boosted her ranking back up to her career high of #52. Her ranking then sank back down to #59 Before the start of this tournament, but her title win here Propelled her back up past her previous career high to a new one of #44. It will be interesting to see if she can manage to stay in the top 50 next season and not see a repeat of her dropping ranking that she experienced this year. #rebeccapeterson #risingstar #bigbabetennis #babolatbabe #wta#44 #sweden#1 #2019tianjinopenchampion REBECCA PETERSON GRABS HER SECOND ASIAN TITLE OF 2019 IN TIANJIN 6-4 6-4!
