This is the only version of this story that needs telling. I may not have become a Taylor Swift fan until several years later, but as I watched this live in the US after a summer spent supervising 15-16 year old American girls that idolised this sweet starlet of great integrity (and played her music non-stop) my horror at watching a narcissist snatch a mic from a mere teenager to tell her she didn’t deserve the award she’d won (by popular vote!) was quickly replaced by a deep awe as I watched her appear only minutes later on a subway platform to perform the shit out of her award-winning song.
Beyoncé was not the hero of this story, the teen who had to recover from such a crushing blow in a matter of minutes to then perform a difficult subway-to-street live performance is.
Exactly nobody that isn’t a deluded Beyoncé fan bought her fake horror at this terrible thing her friend Kanye did. She was flattered, we all saw it. Pink’s reaction in the crowd was what any decent human being should have been feeling watching a teenager be treated so horribly while accepting her first major award. Seeing it any other way is showing you truly have an evil streak.
You don’t have to like Taylor or her music, but let’s stop blaming her for the shitty way other people have treated her.
Lover is such a great album, so I’ve been listening to it all day😍💖! I really love the softness of the songs, as well as the dreamlike production. I edited this for fun, I know it’s a bit different but I hope you love it as much as I love the new @taylorswift album!
I really hope we get the making of songs off Lover videos like we did with rep. I find it fascinating to see her songwriting process and how songs sound stripped down and with alternative lyrics 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
I've listened to the album all the way through several times now and I have to say my top 5 are:
1. The Man
5. Cruel Summer
I am having the hardest time choosing between The Man and MA&THP as #1 😬
