A photograph is a moment frozen in time—an instantaneous and tangible reminder of the best of times (or the worst of times) in one’s life

Yeah I know a painting can bring the same types of feelings and emotions to the fore, but for me I almost always prefer photos. Why? Well first of all, in this digital age, we can see our photos in the moment. With a painting, I would have to wait at minimum a few hours to see that moment in time. Secondly, I can lose myself in a photo. I can imagine myself in places or situations both near and far. I can’t say that’s ever happened for me when I looked at a painting. Lastly, I prefer photos because I can actually produce a halfway decent capture. I am a disaster with paints—I’m talking stick figure bad

At this location in Bagan, many young people were selling their paintings portraying life in and around the town. The paintings were all beautiful, but they didn’t speak to my experiences in Bagan, so I politely declined. What do y’all think—did I make a mistake by not buying a painting of sunset? What’re your thoughts—do you prefer photos or paintings? Please feel free to comment below about what mooooves you 🐄 See what I did there? 😉 🤣
